Terrigal Surf Guide: The Haven, the Beach and Wamberal

Terrigal is the Central Coast's busiest beach town. The main beach curves north from the Skillion, the grassy headland that shelters it from the south. That shelter shapes everything about surfing here.

On a normal swell, Terrigal's main beach is small and gentle, especially at the southern end near the Haven. It's a good place to learn. On a big south or south-east swell, when the open coast is maxed out, the shelter turns into an advantage: Terrigal can be one of the few manageable spots around.

Wamberal, for when Terrigal is flat

As the beach runs north towards Wamberal, it becomes more exposed and picks up much more swell. Wamberal is a powerful beach break that suits experienced surfers and west to north-west winds.

Small swell: go north to Wamberal. Big swell: tuck into Terrigal.

Our alert for Terrigal is tuned to this break alone, so a swell that's perfect for the beach next door won't set it off. When the swell, wind and tide line up together, you get a text.
